The Redfield American Legion Auxiliary Clay Kiser #92 held their 2024 Americanism Contest. The theme this year was “What does Freedom mean to me?” There were 132 essays from grades 4-8 and Special Needs, and one from grades 9-12. Awards were presented for 3 places in each class, along with an Honorable Mention. First place received $25, 2nd place received $15, 3rd place received $10, and Honorable Mention received a DQ treat donated by Dairy Queen. The 1st place essays were sent to the district competition.
On April 8th, a reception was held at the Legion Hall for all of the winners of the Americanism Essay Contest. Students, their parents, grandparents, friends, and teachers were invited to attend. At this time, the certificates and prize money were handed out, and the students read their essays. There were 75 friends and family that attended the reception.
