Lori Ann (Conerton) Fix

Lori Ann (Conerton) Fix, 63, of Lake Charles, LA, returned to God on October 29, 2024 at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital of Southwest Louisiana, surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 3, 1961 in Faulkton, SD to Walt & Sue Conerton.

Lori attended elementary and high school in Houghton and Hecla, SD, respectively, before joining the United States Air Force in 1979. During her military career, she served at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, TX; RAF Chicksands, Shefford, Norfolk, United Kingdom; and at the National Security Agency in Fort G. Meade, MD.

After 8 years of military service, Lori returned to her home state of South Dakota where she held various jobs such as a Corrections Officer in Redfield, SD, and managed a building for Knopf Assisted Living in Sioux Falls, SD. She eventually landed in Lake Charles, LA, as a Field Operations Dispatcher with the Canal Barge Company in Sulphur, LA.

During her time in Sioux Falls, SD, she met and married Bruce Fix on September 13, 2003 and eventually moved to Lake Charles, LA in 2005. It was here where they both found the Lord while attending Vineyard Church and took solace in knowing the Lord was watching over them.

Lori & Bruce served from the church until Bruces untimely death in 2022. They both loved fishing, attending various bible studies, and worshipping. Both were diligent servants. Lori also enjoyed thrifting and her love for music stayed with her throughout her entire life.

Lori is survived by her sisters: Shari Freeland (John) of Houghton, SD, Kelly Paynter of Moorhead, MN; nieces & nephews: Christi Freeland of Sioux Falls, SD, Jonna Waage (Jay) of Groton, SD, Dana Taylor of Fargo, ND, Justin Freeland (Jess) of Houghton, SD, and Katherine Paynter of Denver, CO; step-children: Sherry Berkheimer, Bruce Fix, Steven Fix, Donna Snow, Christina Shull; brother-in-law: Kevin Fix (Connie); as well as several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and her close circle of church friends who she considered as sisters/family.

Preceded in joining the Lord: her parents Walt & Sue (former residents of Redfield) and her loving husband Bruce.

Loris memorial service was held on November 1, 2024 at Vineyard Church in Lake Charles, LA.
Her sister Kelly, niece Katherine, her late husbands family, coworkers, as well as church family and friends were all in attendance.

Lori & Bruces final resting place will be at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, LA at a later date.
