Lois Jean (Allbee) Ryman - 90 of Redfield, SD, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 2nd, 2024, at Redfield Community Memorial Hospital.

Lois was born on December 25th, 1933, to Nellie Opal Penfield and Everett Allbee on their family ranch in Norbeck, SD. She was the 9th of 12 children, 4 boys and 8 girls.

Growing up, Lois was always hard-working and a go-getter. She had to milk the cows, drive the tractor, help mow the yard along with chores, but Friday and Saturday nights were designated for roller skating and square dancing.

Lois married Meryl M. Ryman Sr. on July 22nd, 1954, in Tolstoy, SD. They moved to Denver, CO, where Meryl served in the U.S. Air Force until 1958. In 1958, they set roots in Redfield. Meryl worked as a mechanic and truck driver and Lois at the State School providing for their 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl. Their lives were devoted to providing a good life to their kids, teaching life skills, camping, fishing trips, traveling to various wrestling and boxing tournaments, and spending holidays together.

In August 1989, Meryl passed away and Lois stayed in Redfield and continued to surge forward, working as a waitress at Leo’s Good Food. She always greeted everyone and served them with a smile, she celebrated each holiday wearing corresponding earrings and outfits.

Lois is survived by her remaining children:  Jeanne Johnson, Corey (Shannon) Ryman, Randy Ryman, her grandchildren:  Brenda Johnson, McKenzie (Zak) Olson, Skylor Ryman, 8 step-grandkids, 24 great-grandkids with 1 on the way, 20 great-great grandkids, her brother Edward Allbee, her sister Shirley (Allbee) Ketterling, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Meryl M. Ryman Sr., her sons Meryl M. Ryman Jr. and Mickey Ryman, her parents, 3 brothers, and 6 sisters.

Family-hosted services will be held on July 22nd, 2024, when we will reunite Lois and Meryl on what would have been their 70th Anniversary. The family will repost in July with the location and times.  Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield (www.hykefuneralhome.com) has assisted the Ryman family.
