Douglas Doug Lee Edgar, 92, of Rockham, SD, passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
Visitation, with family present, will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. A prayer service, time of sharing, and rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, at St. Marys Chapel in Zell, SD. Reverend John Short will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will take place after the service at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Zell. Lunch and fellowship will follow in the church hall.

Doug was born to W.P. and Mary (Aesoph) Edgar on September 9, 1931, in Redfield.
He attended Rose School in Hillsdale Township. He graduated from Orient High School in 1950.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, he worked on the construction of the OAHE dam north of Pierre, SD. He contributed to the first purchases of registered cattle establishing Edgar Brothers Angus along with his brother Dick. They were awarded Stockmen of the Year in 2012 at the Black Hills Stock Show.
He will be most remembered for his unfailing generosity, his kindness, and patience. He was a faith-filled man, always making sure he watched the Sunday TV Mass when he was unable to attend in person.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Dick, Donald, Donna Hiles, and MaryLou Barlow.
Doug is survived by his sister Kathy Nowell and 25 nieces and nephews. A special thank you to his friend and driver John Ell, his Starters family, and his Home Health providers.
