Luke Holt pitched five innings as Redfield Diary Queen lost the first game of a doubleheader 5-3, Saturday, July 6 in Pierre.
Coach Kurt Permann said Holt took the loss, moving to 1-3 for the season. “I thought Luke pitched a decent game. He had four strikeouts. We just didn’t give him enough support.” Both teams had eight hits in the game. Isaac Lukes pitched one inning in relief. Brent Osborn had two hits. Joel Osborn had a double and single. Edgar Tovar had a double. In the second game, Dairy Queen rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Pierre 6-3.
Coach Permann said Tovar went four-for-for including a double and an RBI. “Chris Struder and Edgar Tovar had critical hits in the 7th to win it for Dairy Queen.” Brent Osborn had three hits and scored three runs.
Coach Permann said Isaac Lukes pitched four innings. “He allowed only four hits and one run. Keith Gall pitched an inning and a third. Edgar Tovar pitched an inning an third and picked up the victory.”
