First I'd like to say that we will miss you, LoriJo. You have been the "glue that binds" the Redfield Press for quite a while. Good luck with your future plans, and keep in touch!
Now for the little bit of Ashton news that I have---- The bridge results of August 15th were as follows: winning at table one with high was Lucille Strahl and low went to Nancy Fehlman, winning high at table two was Anna Mae Clausen and low went to Dolores Benning. The pot for holding a no-point hand was split between JoLynn Hahler and Sandy Zoodsma. Other players for the day were Ruth Dvorak and Marvie Spear. It was the first time all of the members had been together for cards since summer began.
The results for September 5th were: winning high at table one was hostess Ruth Dvorak and low went to Dolores Benning, winning high at table two was Sandy Zoodsma and low went to Anna Mae Clausen. Ruth served a delicious lunch of strawberry dessert and peanut bars. The next day of cards will be September 19 with Nancy as hostess.
A retirement party was held for Postmistress Pam Hull on August 31st. Pam had been Postmistress for the Ashton Post Office for 18 years, and previously to that she had worked at the Hitchcock Post Office for 24 years. That adds up to 42 years of service to the two communities! Pam will be working in the lunch room at the Tulare school and we all wish her well. In training at the post office now is Deb Mahnke of Ashton.
