Dwayne Hugh Booze

Dwayne Hugh Booze, 86, died on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Redmond Health Care Center in Redmond, Oregon.

Dwayne Hugh Booze was born March 8, 1926 in Lodi Township, Spink County, SD to James Earl and Olive Harriet (Emory) Booze. He was delivered by a mid-wife.

Dwayne joined the Army on May 28, 1945 at Fort Snelling in Minnesota. During World War II he was in the Army Air Corp. and was stationed in Greenland, the Aleutian Islands in the Alaskan Peninsula, and Alaska where he was stationed in Nome, Fairbanks, Juneau and Anchorage. He mustered out in 1948 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.

He married Velma Rose Gehring on July 14, 1953 in Howard, SD. They moved to Portland, Oregon where he worked for a salebarn as an accountant for many years until the salebarn closed down. He then went to work for Rose City Transit Company in Portland as an accountant. He then went on to Hood River and worked as a bookkeeper for a telephone company and then Madras, Oregon where he worked for some time there as an accountant until his retirement.

Dwayne played the guitar and sang at the Senior Citizen’s Centers, he also loved to hunt and fish there in Madras.

In 2012 he entered the Redmond Health Care Center.

Dwayne was cremated and graveside rites will be held at Mount Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Madras, Oregon.

He leaves to mourn his two sons; Douglas (Pat) Booze of Seattle, Washington, Mark Booze of Silverdale, Washington; a daughter, Diane Sisk of Madras, Oregon; two grandchildren, Sheena Sisk of Los Angeles, California and Kyle Sisk of Portland, Oregon; one brother Harold (Joan) Booze of Redfield, SD; six sisters: Jean West of Lakewood, California, Evelyn Grayson of Fresno, CA, Grace Pengilly of Madera, CA, Carol (Jerry) Jessen, Norfolk, NE, Patricia (Jack) Wiess, Hot Springs, SD, Shirley (Ken) Gilbert, Redfield, SD; two sisters-in-law, Inez Booze, Redfield, SD, and Lucille Gehring, Denver, CO.

He was preceded in death by his wife Velma Booze, August 30, 2003; his father, James E. Booze, April 23, 1978; his mother Olive Harriet Booze, January 10, 1970: three brothers; Raymond Earl Booze, August 19, 1948; Wesley James Booze, October 9, 2009; Bobbie Lee Booze, March 20, 2011; and one sister, Kathryn Mae Paradee, November 4, 2003.
