The Redfield Pheasants split a Memorial Day double header at Wessington Springs. Game one had the Pheasants playing the Wessington Springs Owls. Tommy Gregg started on the mound for the Pheasants and pitched 5 solid innings, allowing only three hits. When the ball was handed to the relief staff in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Pheasants held a 7 to 3 lead. The Pheasant pitchers had a hard time finding the plate and after numerous walks, hit batters and a few hits, the Pheasants were down 9 to 7 after 6 innings. The Pheasants failed to score in the top of the seventh and the game ended 9 to 7 in favor of the Owls. Redfield was lead at the plate by Eric Felderman (double and single) and Christian Christianson (2 singles) with numerous other player adding a hit. Outside of the one poor inning the Pheasants played a solid game of baseball. Game two pitted the Pheasants against the Dimock Emery Raptors. Eric Felderman had his pitching debut against a tough Raptor lineup. Eric had a rough start as he found himself with bases loaded and no outs in the first inning. A combination of good pitching and good defense kept the Raptors from scoring in the first. The Pheasants were held scoreless in the bottom of the first, but that would be the only inning the Pheasants would not score. The Pheasants plated 3 runs in the 2nd, 2 runs in the 3rd, 4 runs in the 4th, 3 runs in the 5th, and a single run in the 6th for a 13 to 9 win. Eric Felderman pitched a great game and got into the fifth inning with Keith Jandel and Michael Solheim finished the duties on the mound. The Pheasants had the bats going in this second game as Elliot Millar had a double and 2 singles, Christian Christianson had 3 singles, Randall Waldner had a double and single, and Eric Felderman and Ethan Millar had 2 singles. The Pheasants displayed their speed in both games as Nate Binger and others ran down a number of fly balls. The Pheasants will be action this coming Friday on the Home Field with a 6:30 and 8:30 games against Britton.
