The memorial on the grounds of the Spink County Courthouse recognizing all branches of the military received some new flags on Thursday, March 29 when a group of representatives including Spink County Veterans Service Officer Gordon Richard, Perry Schmidt Quarter master of the VFW, Tom Lienen Commander of the VFW, Bob Miller Junior Vice Commander of the VFW, and Dave Durfee Adjutant of the American Legion.
The memorial honoring all the brave men and women of Spink County who served their country, was built through a joint effort of Spink County and the local American Legion and VFW Posts. It is maintained by the three entities which take turns purchasing the memorial flags.
The flags that were retired will be given to Kelly Hyke, of the Redfield Boy Scouts for proper disposal.
