Nikole Heer, senior at Doland High School, babysat for two “babies” during the Pheasant’s basketball game held Friday, January 15. As part of the FACS class parenting unit at the Doland School, each student takes part in a parenting simulation project over a 4-day period. The "Ready-or-Not Tots" are interactive parenting manikins used to simulate both the negative and positive aspects of caring for a baby. The battery-operated baby simulators require 24 hour attention by the students. When the baby cries, a special key is used to address the needs of feeding, diaper changing, burping, and special attention. The objective of this project is to provide students with a realistic idea of the demands of parenting and the proper care as if this were a real baby. Photo by Lori Jo Mundstock
