Since 1984, Bob Tiff’s association with the Redfield High School athletics has been done on a voluntary basis.
It began as a “yes” to head football coach Fran Esser’s request to serve as an assistant coach.
Tiff worked with the varsity and junior varsity teams until 2003 when he gave another positive response to assist with the middle school and junior high programs.
“I am so appreciative of this honor,” Tiff said. “It was a very big surprise to be nominated for this great award.”
In 2005, Tiff received the Distinguished Service Award from the South Dakota High School Coaches Association for outstanding contributions to high school athletics and dedication to the highest and best in high school athletics.
He has also been honored with the Friends of Football Award and the South Dakota Athletics Directors’ Association Friend of Athletics.
In addition, Tiff is a member of the South Dakota Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Tiff received a plaque and ring for this honor on Wednesday, July 17 in Aberdeen at the South Dakota High School Coaches Awards luncheon at the Aberdeen Ramkota Inn.For the complete article see the 07-31-2013 issue.
