Post 92 wins two

After a seven day lay-off Redfield Post 92 claimed two victories by defeating Webster on June 11 and then Clark on June 13.

On Tuesday June 11 Webster Legion Post 40 came to town and they were defeated 15-14 in one nine inning contest. Post 92 strong offensive attack was lead by Sawyer Hansen who collected three hits and four runs batted in, including a solo-homerun in the first inning. Tanner Clausen collected four hits and four runs batted including a solo-homerun in the fourth inning in which Post 92 scored eight runs. Sutton Masat Lead Post 92 with four hits, Casey Nuhsbaumer, Shane Binger, Scott Stienheuser and Andrew Bertsch also chipped in with two hits each.

“The kids did a great job today at the plate; it was just one of those days where everything was clicking,” said Coach Gregg.

Tanner Clausen got the win for Post 92 going six innings allowing only six hits, surrendering two runs, while striking out 7. “This was another great outing for Tanner give him credit, he was in a couple of tight stops early but he was able to pitch his was out of trouble. This was a big game for our team and he (Tanner) stepped up for us today,” said Coach Gregg.

In the second game of the week Post 92 defeated Clark in a Region 6B match-up 8-4. Sutton Masat was given the ball for Post 92 and would not look back, throwing a complete game four hitter. Masat faced 39 batters on the evening striking out thirteen and only walking three and allowing two earned runs.

“Sutton really pitched well tonight, this was a powerful and dominate outing by him. He was able to throw his fastball and curve ball at anytime in the count, he really kept Clarks hitters guessing,” said Coach Gregg.

At the plate for Post 92 Jordan Hansen had to two hits both being doubles, while driving in three runs. “Jordan is quietly putting together a very nice year at the plate for us. He’s one of those guys that goes to the plate and you know he is going to swing and not get cheated and he’s putting the ball in play.” Said Coach Gregg . Tanner Clausen, Casey Nuhsbaumer and Brady Furhman also chipped in with two hits each,” said Coach Gregg.

With the two victories Post 92 now has a season record of 4-4, “This was a big week for our ball club, we are finding ways to win games and we are starting to build some confidence,” said Coach Gregg.
