Justin Downes pitched seven shutout innings as Redfield Dairy Queen defeated Wessington Springs 9-0, Thursday, May 31 in Wessington Springs. Redfield coach Kurt Permann said Downes struck out nine and allowed four hits. “I thought Downes did a very nice job in his first appearance of the season.” Coach Permann said Luke Holt pitched the last two innings, giving up one hit. “Luke had decent control in his first amateur game.” Coach Permann said Redfield had eighteen hits in the game. “We hit the ball well; every starter had at least one hit.“ Brent Osborn had four hits and an RBI and scored two runs. Chad McNeely had three hits and two RBIs. Chris Studer had two doubles and two RBIs. Justin Downes had two hits and an RBI. Keith Gall had two hits and two runs scored. Brendan Hoellein had two hits. Coach Permann said Dairy Queen will play the Redfield Pheasants on June 6th at 6:30 and 8:30. “Fans - if you haven’t attended a game yet this young season - come on out - the sound of real wood hitting a baseball is back, hopefully for good.“ Dairy Queen plays Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar for two games at Aberdeen on June 8 at 6:30 and 8:30.
