Eastern Star Home and Star Court Suites News

The Eastern Star Home FUN FUND will benefit from the proceeds of our annual Rummage Sale to be held on Thursday, August 8th from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. The garage located in the facility’s west parking lot on West 2nd Street will be filled with many useful and interesting items including furniture, household items, televisions, pictures, knick knacks, clothing and much miscellaneous. We hope that you will pay us a visit, help us make more room in our storage areas and support a worthy cause.

Many guests were present on July 29th to help Vera Zens celebrate her birthday her birthday while enjoying Root Beer Floats. Vera told those attending the party that she was born at 4:00 PM in the afternoon after the threshers were fed lunch and supper was prepared.

Members of Minerva Chapter #5, OES from Aberdeen paid us a visit on Tuesday, July 30th. They hosted our afternoon BINGO with many fun prizes for all in attendance. Angel Cake and Strawberries was served by the chapter members during the fellowship that followed the games.

Our residents enjoyed an extra special afternoon on Wednesday when the Young Maiden’s Choir from Glendale Colony stopped by to sing for us. Following their concert Happy Hour was hosted by our Dietary and Activities Departments. Featured this month were Oriental Snacks, Spring Rolls, Inside Out Caramels, Stuffed Snow Peas along with Chips and a wide variety of Dips. Of course, everyone enjoyed their favorite alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages along with the appetizers.

Following the Tulare United Church DVD on Thursday afternoon, Leslie Blair entertained us with her Antique Jewelry Show. She showed us and told about everything from Poodle Pins to Jeweled Cuff Links to Sea Shell Jewelry to Old Jewelry Boxes.

Friday, following the Redfield United Church of Christ DVD, we joined together to play WHEEL OF FORTUNE. The themes of the titles and phrases were “Events That Happen in the Month of August”. For a month with no holidays, it’s amazing how August events occur each year!

The Eastern Star Home Board of Directors met in our Conference Room on Saturday, August 3rd. These members come from all over the state and meet either in person or by teleconference every other month to govern the operation of the facility and its three divisions.

“Fruits of the Spirit” was the theme of our Sunday afternoon Church service conducted by Pastor Lorah Houser Jankord. We thank her and all the ministers of the Redfield Area Ministerial Association for their dedication to our residents.

This afternoon we look forward to Music with Tom Pickles following the REDFIELD PRESS at 2:30 PM. In addition to our Rummage Sale on Thursday, we will watch the Tulare Church DVD at 2:00 PM along with the Finale of the Pizza Garden Summer featuring Homemade Pizza for the Kids and their families and our Residents and their families beginning at 5:30 PM.

The Redfield UCC Church DVD will begin at 2:00 PM on Friday afternoon followed by Fancy Feet Spa Fun!

Mark your calendars for Thursday Evening, September 12th for the Annual Eastern Star Home Customer Appreciation Brat & Burger Feed.
