It has been a long hot month, and a couple of terrible storms that played havoc in the fields in certain areas, but now looking forward to a "soft" rain to settle the dust and water my lawn...smile!
On July 10, the Harmony Social CLub Red Hats met at Avis Hansen's home in Redfield with Denise Solheim as co-hostess. There were 14 members and one guest, Shirley Hansen of Sioux Falls, present. The meeting started with the flag pledge, roll call was answered by our favorite summmer dessert. The Secretary's, Treasurer's and Sick reports were read and approved. Joan Crook won the door prize and Marlis Freeburg won the nickels and guessed the pinch package...congrats grils! Gerry Robinson gave everyone their tickets to the Red Hat Rendezvous for Saturday, July 20th at the Ramkota in Aberdeen. Area members were to meet at 8:00 am at the Armory to carpool to make sure everyone had a ride. Hopefully I can report on this fun time in the next issue. In New Business, we discussed the now "semi-annual" function that we usually have at the Community Center in the Fall. We are getting ideas together to see if we can pull it off again this year. It was tabled until next meeting, August 7th, to be held at Gerry Robinson's home with Florence Frericks as co-Hostess.
Gerry Robinson was honored with an 80th Birthday Open House held in the Frankfort Community Center on July 21st. I am a little late in advertising this, but hopefully everyone read it in the last paper and were able to attend. Also Lyle and Joan Crook celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on the same day in Redfield at the United Methodist Church. We do hope everyone was able to attend both celebrations by splitting the times. I will report back on both in the next news for Frankfort.
We have had a lot of activity at the Community Center this month and it is not over yet. So nice to have a facility that meets everyone's needs. Prices are $30 for 1-6 hours, $60 for all day. You may contact Karlan Bicknese at anytime to rent the Center @ 472-0978.
Dennis and Esther Hughes held "The Hughes Family Reunion" at the Frankfort Center from July 11 through the 14th. It was a great success! Many beautiful people traveled long distances to enjoy each others company, from as far away as California and far North as Prince Greorge, Alberta Canada, as well as from Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Everyone enjoyed good food, games and 4 generations of special people. Everyone said "Thanks" to the Community Center in Frankfort and the Habitat for food and drinks. They all decided to get together in the future, and it was unanimous that Frankfort is the place to meet. WOW what a compliment!
