The March 27, 2013 meeting of the Redfield Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary met at 1:30 pm in the Training Room of the hospital with Marlene Brugger, and hospital CEO Nick Brander. Nick addressed the group on his hospital update before the business meeting was held. Nick explained the following improvements that have transpired over the past month. For one, a 340 B drug program has been implemented. Also, there has been a doctor recruitment interview, and although that one did not work out, there are other upcoming interviews and possibilities being contacted. On April 25, 2013, there will be a hospital preparedness to "severe weather" exercise conducted. The e-pharmacoy is up and running as of March 5, 2013, which assures the hospital of always having a pharmacist on staff. The hospital also recently received a $15,000. generous donation from an anonymous donor to be used for a balance machine in the hospital Rehab department. The nachine can also be used for evaluation of patients after a concussion.
This summer two students from REHPS (Rural Experience for Health Professional students) will be visiting the Community Memorial Hospital campus and staying there from July 8th to August 2nd. Kevin Oliver a medical student and Abbie Johnson a pharmacy student are the two students selected to come to Redfield hospital.
Jamie call the meeting to order and led the group in both the hospital prayer, as well as the pledge to the American Flag.
Florence Frericks read the secretaries report and Viola Hardie gave the treasure’s report, which was approved.
Judy Carroll talked about visiting other craft fairs and some new ideas she saw there that maybe we could try at our craft fair next October. Also Judy announced anyone is welcome to come to the Hospital Annual Meeting April 22 at the hospital, beginning at 6:30 pm with a social. Viola, Florence, and Janice wioll meet there to present the report on the Hospital Auxiliary's projects for the last year.
President Janice talked about the Spring State Meeting at the Ramkota in Pierre April 12 and 13 an volunteered to go from our auxiliary. Mildred Ratigan made a motion and Judy Carroll seconded that the hospital auxiliary pay for Janice's one night at the Ramkota and her registration for the meals and speakers at the state convention passed.
Pat Groft announced the hospital dietary department was having and Easter Maundy Thursday Bake Sale, beginning at 9:00 am, to continue to raise money for the hospital kitchen's improvements and remodeling project.
Joyce Welke will make the April tray favors. Joan Kegler volunteered to make the May favors. Eileen Muellenberg will check into getting more hospital auxiliary return address labels for the tray favors.
Vona Jean Johnson served a delicious lunch. Mickey Harms will serve the April lunch, and Rita Nelson will serve the May lunch.
