I'm baaaaaaack.
Where was I? During my hiatus a number of topics appeared apprehensively above my neck. If you remember, most, if not all of my columns dealt with the savory subject of sports. I may, occasionaly, get back to that topic mixed in with numerous other thoughts. Ms. Lambert, editor of the "Press", has given me some lee-way with regard to my opinions, and I thank her for that!!
Some of you may leisurely like my thoughts, and some of you may grievously growl. "Pick your poison."
My first thought is the very loud clanking of trucks and trailers as they speed on the various intersections through our lovely likeable city. Most of those intersections are very uneven and rough. Please do NOT complain to the city; those are state highways, and it should be the responsibility of the South Dakota Department of Transportation (DOT).
I live about 4 blocks away and can still hear the racket. Kelly, at Thelen Funeral Home, once told me that the entire building shutters and shakes as the trucks pass by. I do know that some of those trucks stop here in town and do business here, and that is great and that helps our small community survive and prosper. Please continue to do business here.
DOT----I think it is time that you make the roads smoother through our terrific town! These old ears of mine need a break from constant noise.
Perm's bad: Loud and noisy trucks
Perm's good: Spaghetti and meatballs
