Rob and Renae Eddy, Rapid City, have a new addition to their family. Tanner James was born on January 17th weighing 8 lbs. 14 oz. He joins big sister Ansley. Proud grandparents are Gene and Sandy Zoodsma, and great-grandmother is Mary Nelson - all of Ashton.
There will be a benefit pancake feed sponsored by Plains Lions Club on February 21st for Triten Heber. Triten is a third grade student at Northwestern Area and is awaiting a kidney transplant. The feed will be at the Northwestern High School cafeteria from 9:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m. Free-will offerings will be accepted, with Thrivent matching the funds. Triten is the son of Jessica Sheridan of Ashton and Joe Heber, and grandson of Ashton area farmers Delvin and Barb Sheridan.
The Ashton Bridge Club finally got to meet after not playing cards since the week before Christmas due to the snowy weather on the days we were supposed to gather. There were only four members available on Feb. 3rd, and Lucille Strahl won high for the afternoon. Marvie Spear won low.
The other players were Ruth Dvorak and Jo Lynn Hahler. Lucille was the hostess, and she showed the rest of us how to play with just four. The next day of bridge will be February 17th with Anna Mae Clausen as hostess.
Anna Mae has been recuperating at home after having knee replacement surgery. She is doing very well, but cautious of the icy conditions.
The Ashton Birthday Club gals met on February 10th at the home of Ruth Dvorak. Attending the morning coffee was Sandy Zoodsma, Marvie Spear, Dianne West, Jo Lynn Hahler and special guest Aiden Hahler. Grandma just had to show him off to the ladies! The next day for birthday club will be March 10th at the home of Dianne and celebrating the birthdays of Eleanor and Jo Lynn.
