The Lenten season begins this evening with Ash Wednesday Services, hosted by the United Methodist Church, starting at 7:30 PM. Pastor Josh Kendrick will start off the series with his message entitled “Jesus and the Jubilant Crowd” based on Luke 19:28-44. The churches involved in this series are UMC, Wesleyan, and UCC.
The Sunday school children have just had their 2nd “Rotation Session” with 2 more weeks to come. Teachers and other adults of the church have put together a wonderful program on “Hero’s of the Bible”. So far the youth have learned about Ester, David and Samson.
The Sr. CYU Youth Group will be presenting a concert open to the public at the UCC Church on Sunday, Feb. 21st starting at 2 PM. The featured entertainment will be a group of young men who call themselves B.A.C.K. There will be a small charge at the door for the afternoon program which will also include refreshments. Don’t miss the experience of the awesome talent of these young people! This event is just one of the ways they raise funds for their mission trips and other activities. The Sr. CYU also participated Feb. 7th in “Souper Bowl” Sunday (this was their 10th year involved) and raised $176.40 and some canned goods all of which goes to the Tri-County Food Pantry here in Redfield.
The Jr. CYU Youth Group recently had a great evening project of making beautiful and creative Valentine’s Day cards for several senior member of the congregation. The group is also in the process of planning their next “Lock-in” with a theme of “A Very Merry Un-Birthday”. This event is being planned for Friday, March 26 starting at 9 PM through Sat., March 27 ending at 8 AM and will be at the SDDC-Redfield. The deadline for registration and money turned in is March 3rd. More details are available from the youth advisor Dianne Wegner – 475-7755.
Mary Circle will be meeting this morning at Leo’s starting at 9:30 AM and Sarah-Helene Circle will be meeting this afternoon at the church starting at 2 PM with Eileen Muellenberg hosting. The Christian Ed. Comm. is scheduled to meeting following worship on Feb. 21st.
