You’ve probably heard that there is no such thing as a free lunch. Well in Redfield there is. Beginning Monday, June 18th a local book club will be serving free lunch five days a week, Monday thru Friday, at noon for anybody who wants to come regardless of income, at the Redfield Armory.
“In the summer time when the kids are out of school and mom and dad are both at work it’s difficult to have family time. By offering people the option of having a wholesome, home cooked meal free of charge with no clean-up we hope that we can provide them some family time. Parents can meet their children at the armory during their lunch hour and make the most of their time while we take care of the rest,” said Rommelle Fortin, one of the program organizers. “It’s just our way of paying it forward.”
The group also encourages others to get involved. “We would like to have other Community groups, organizations and volunteers serve the meal on Tuesdays as a way to give back to the community. For more information on how you can become involved contact Rommelle at 472-0508.
