Anytime Fitness New Owners

Posted

Holly Brassilio and her husband, Henry, are the new owners of Anytime Fitness on Main Street in Redfield.
Brassilio said that they were “fortunate to take it on.”
This is their first business. She studied business, and has worked as a bank manager. He became a coach and guidance counselor.
“It’s a mesh of our areas – business and fitness.”
She said that her husband was more the one into fitness. She tries to work out a few times a week.
Brassilio grew up in Redfield, and returned after living in Aberdeen for several years. When not at the gym, she helps her dad with his businesses.
She said that they have been getting a few new members every week. Things pick up in January, she explained.
“New year, new you.”
The last owner lived far away. Brassilio said that having the business locally owned makes a difference.
She stated that the building was in pretty good shape overall. The previous owner had done some remodeling.
She saw lots of possibilities.

Maybe a juice or snack bar, fitness classes, personal trainers…
Brassilio said “We’re keeping our eyes and ears open to what people want.”
She stated that they are keeping their options open, and figuring things out. She cited employee Edith as being a big help.
Currently, there are three general areas, plus a tanning bed.
“Some people just like the tanning bed, especially in Winter.” Brassilio said.
Weight machines and free weights are toward the back of the business. The front houses several treadmills, stair-steppers, and stationary bikes. There’s an area in the middle that has open space for other exercise, as well as stretching.
According to Brassilio, Anytime Fitness has over 4,000 franchise locations. It is also the only franchise to have locations on all 7 continents, she said.
Members are able to use any Anytime Fitness gym.
The Redfield location has over 300 members.
“Everyone from high school kids who come right after school, to older adults who come in the mornings” are seen at the gym, she said.
Brassilio stated that the gym is important because “Not only is it a place to work out, a healthy outlet… It is unique in Redfield because there are not a lot of places that people of all ages can go and just be themselves.”
She also said that “positive hobbies” are important.
Members are from elementary age on up. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Older minors may be on their own if a waiver is signed.
The location is staffed Mondays through Thursdays 3-7 p.m., and Fridays 3-5 p.m. The gym is available 24/7, however.
Panic buttons are available for members to wear when working out alone. Pushing a panic button would alert emergency services.
Brassilio said that as far as cold weather, it’s about 50-50. “The snow can mean that members have problems getting to the gym. However, there’s also not a lot to do in Winter. We get summer athletes coming in to train.”
Brassilio was a member of Anytime Fitness when she lived in Aberdeen.
She stated that they are currently running a special – $1 enrollment. There is normally at $50 enrollment fee.
Rates are the same for all members. Billing occurs bi-weekly. For a 12-month membership, the rate would be $26.99 every other week.
For a 24-month membership, the rate would be $22.99 every other week.
When not at the gym, the Brassilios enjoy watching football and playing with their dogs. They currently have a husky-malamute and a pit-lab.
