For medical providers, nurses, employees and patients of Redfield Clinic it will soon be a reality.

The Redfield Clinic will be under the umbrella of an electronic medical record system that promises advantages both for patients and for the medical group and its employees. The electronic medical record (EMR) is your physician's office legal record that contains your identifying information, appointments, any diagnosis and medications, insurance information and payment record. The EMR focuses on the details of you unique healthcare history. It lists all of your physicians as well as pharmacy, therapist, specialist, medications, lab test and x-ray reports.

It's really going to help the patient in many ways, in terms what we say “continuity of care”. Most information is entered digitally or scanned so we can avoid the famous problem of handwriting which will help avoid medical errors caused by that.

As the technology moves forward the EMR becomes the norm, it will always be important that privacy and access rights of patient's information are protected. Wiring the Redfield Clinic will go a long way toward improving patient care and bring down health costs.

On March 21, 2012 the Redfield Clinic will launch the Electronic Medical Record. Appointments will be extended slightly to allow employees to enter the patient's health history in the EMR before the physician office visit.

Please bring in all your medication bottles including over the counter vitamins, pain relievers and herbal supplements in with you at every clinic appointment and Emergency Room visit; we are striving for accuracy when entering the medications in the electronic medical record.

If you have any questions please call and speak to any Redfield Clinic staff member. 605.472.0510
