The Honorable Judge Portra administered the Oath of Office to two new Spink County Sheriff's Deputies, Jerrod Peterson and Ben Aery on Tuesday, February 7th.

Jerrod Peterson, pictured above right, is from St. Cloud, MN where he has been working in the food industry. His parents operated the Steak and Buffet in Aberdeen. He and his wife have 4 children. Jerrod was pinned with his badge by his brother Joel who is a SD State Trooper in Yankton.

Ben Aery, pictured above left, is from Sioux Falls, SD and has worked at Wells Fargo there. He and his wife have one son. His badge was pinned by his wife Jennifer.

Both deputies are currently living in Redfield and are currently field training. They are scheduled to attend Law Enforcement Basic Training in Pierre later in the year.
