Brookings, Watertown to host Titan Machinery student camps

WEST FARGO, N.D. — Titan Machinery, in partnership with community and technical colleges in South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, Idaho, and North Dakota, looks forward to hosting ninth through 12th grade students throughout this year’s Titan Machinery Student Camps.

This year’s camps incorporate enhanced opportunities for students to network with and learn from industry professionals, collaborate and connect with other campers in a variety of project-based learning activities, and enjoy a unique summer experience exploring what it’s like to work in the heavy equipment industry — either as a diesel mechanic/service technician or an equipment precision technology specialist.

In 2023, Titan Machinery launched its first-ever diesel camps, allowing students of all backgrounds, genders and socioeconomic statuses to experience hands-on learning in a safe, fun and engaging environment. The goals of these camps were:

  • To help rewrite the current and often negative narrative around careers in the skilled trade industry and combat its misconceptions, which have been proven to negatively impact kids and parents interested in heavy equipment and diesel mechanics.
  • To be an innovative leader in solving our nation’s current skilled trade shortage, closing the skilled trade gap, and promoting more opportunities for females to feel empowered in a male-dominated industry.
  • To create a wider breadth of “people they know” for students to turn to for information and guidance about post-high school plans.
  • To instill in every camper attending just a bit more confidence in themselves and their interests in the field than what they had when they began.

Last year, Titan Machinery’s summer camp program featured four Titan Machinery diesel camps, each providing students the opportunity to step into the work boots of a service technician/diesel mechanic.

This year, Titan Machinery has increased outreach through the addition of new college partnerships to host more camps. It has also expanded to include its first-ever Titan Machinery precision camp. In this camp, the curriculum shifts the focus to provide students with the opportunity to step into the work boots of a precision technology specialist.

This year’s student camps will be taking place at the following community and technical colleges, as well as within their surrounding Titan Machinery dealerships:

  • Diesel camp: Lake Area Technical College — Watertown (May 28)
  • Diesel camp: Central Community College — Hastings, Nebraska (June 3-4)
  • Diesel camp: Kirkwood Community College — Cedar Rapids, Iowa (June 11-12)
  • Diesel camp: Northeastern Junior College — Sterling, Colorado (June 16-19)
  • Diesel camp: Ridgewater College — Willmar, Minnesota (June 25-26)
  • Diesel camp: Idaho State University — Pocatello, Idaho (July 8-10)
  • Diesel camp: North Dakota State College of Science — Wahpeton, North Dakota (July 14-16)
  • Precision camp: South Dakota State University — Brookings (July 11-12)

Regardless of the camp students attend, all Titan Machinery summer campers can continue to look forward to the following:

  • The chance to engage with and learn from industry professionals.
  • Meeting and connecting with like-minded peers their age.
  • Creative, hands-on, project-based learning activities that give them a taste of working in the industry.
  • Insights on the various positions that work together at a dealership team.
  • Collaboration with each other and the experts on hand throughout the entire camp experience.
  • A fun and unique summer opportunity.
